A review of the literature on peer reinforcement
Main Article Content
Abstract
Peer reinforcement in the classroom offers advantages. Research in this area suggests that peer reinforcement can be powerful tool to control nonacademic classroom behaviors. No evidence was found concerning the importance of some variables, such as "popularity" and positive social skills, as components of peer reinforcement. Also no evidence was found concerning academic skills assumed to be prerequisite behaviors for succesful peer tutoring. Research, that would answer these questions and others on effective peer training techniques and their components is suggested. In addition, research on training of positived social interactions within group oriented contingency systems and generalization effects of peer training within the classroom to other settings is recommended.
